Doc's chicken detector is a device used by Doc in "The Long, Long Winter" to aid The 7D's efforts in finding Jollywood Joe. Originally, it was a squirrel detector but Doc modified it for its new purpose. It has the capability to locate chickens within ten miles. The detector successfully finds Joe in a cave with pretend pine trees in front of it, in a block of ice while being held captive by Grim and Hildy.
